In the Spring of 2012, Mac and Tom traveled to Madison to meet with a number of Scouts alumni at an annual ALS benefit and concert. They were able to meet and film a number of alumni who testified to the lasting influence that the Scouts have had in their lives and the continuing strength of the Scouts’ brotherhood. Also, the filmmakers were given the rare privilege of interviewing both Scott Stewart, the former executive director of the Scouts, and Steve Vickers, a long-time member of the Scouts’ Board of Directors and the publisher of Drum Corps World. These interviews are crucial to giving audiences the context necessary to understand the Scouts’ unique place in the history of the drum corps activity.
