While many people associate drum and bugle corps with the United States, there are a tremendous number?of marching arts organizations in other countries around the world. During a critical time in our?fundraising efforts?to cover the music licensing costs in our documentary film, we were contacted by two groups in Edmonton, Canada that were interested in having a special screening. One of the organizations was the Edmonton Ambassadors that was formed in 1966 as an all girls marching band and now operates as a winterguard program. Their organization has a Senior group “Vintage” and a junior group, “The Ambassadors”. Along with their organization, Impact Performing Arts, which was formed in 1963 as the “Edmonton Strutters” then became the “1st Canadian Regiment,” has teamed up with the Edmonton Ambassadors to bring our drum corps movie to Edmonton.

The two groups working in collaboration have seen the value of our documentary feature film and put the money behind the project to bring it to their city. The priority for tickets will be for recruiting/publicity purposes. The aim of this screening is to increase the members of their drum corps and winter guard by showing what a quality experience the marching arts can be. The film has already inspired people to join their local marching organizations and try out for a World Class DCI corps.

“Scouts Honor: Inside a Marching Brotherhood,” Producer/Director, Mac Smith will be present for the screening in Edmonton, Canada and will do a Q&A with the audience after the film. He’s looking forward to connecting with people who share his?passion about the marching arts.

The screening will be on Monday, January 12th at the Landmark Cinemas City Centre in Downtown Edmonton. This is a private screening, so tickets will not be available at the door. Please contact Impact Performing Arts or the Edmonton Ambassadors via their Facebook pages for more information.
