We are pleased to announce that we received a substantial contribution today in the form of a check from the?Nisei Ambassadors Drum Corps Alumni. ?This corps, based out of Chicago, Illinois, folded in 1972. ?A few of their members went on to march in the Madison Scouts soon after that. ?They have a trust that helps kids in need participate in the activity. ?We’d like to thank Terry Nakagawa for reaching out to us about our project.

?
There has been a misconception that “Scouts Honor” is being funded by the Madison Scouts. ?While they have been very supportive during our production phases by letting us stay with the members and staff in housing sites around the country and generously feeding our crew during the 2012 season, the funds that have paid for this movie have been out of our own pockets and from contributors. ?
Many corps today have a multimedia presence (including the Scouts), but this project is different. ?This is a feature length independent documentary whose goal is to expose a sub-culture. ?We want to connect with a wide audience and show them what drum corps is all about through the stories of the three young men that we followed throughout the 2012 season. ?This movie has the potential to help not just the Scouts, but all the organizations in the activity.
?
Our biggest financial battle now is licensing the music for this movie. ?We have approximately 14 songs that we need to secure sync licenses for “Scouts Honor”. ?These are all pieces of music performed by the Madison Scouts throughout the years. From “Empire State of Mind” to “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” they are all important pieces that tell the story that we want to present to the world. ?Co-producer, Garrick Gonzalez, has been working hard to navigate the music licensing waters. ?While we’d love to be able to secure these songs for free, the reality is that we need to pay for these pieces of music.?
?
There is no better time to contribute to “Scouts Honor.”? We are still offering rewards for contributions which are listed right on our site which include stickers, DVDs, Blu-rays, a credit in the film, and more. ?If you know you want a copy of the movie, don’t wait; pre-order it now. ?Later this year the rewards will be taken down off the site. ?If you can’t afford the DVD at this time, we understand. ?Any size contribution gets us closer to the finish line.
?
Thanks again to Terry and the Nisei Ambassadors Alumni. ?We are grateful to you and to all of our contributors!
